* Jesus uses powerful, angry rhetoric in Matthew 12:1-8 — "haven't you ever read . . . ?" Should we take it as an indication that he doesn't want us to read the Bible in a superficial way, avoiding difficult passages, or waving away interpretations that we disagree with?
