 * A note for the December readings. Scholars have suggested that the book of Job was the first drama ever staged — even suggesting that it might have been produced by Isaiah for the court of the suffering king Hezekiah. During December, you might like to consider that possibility, and see if it makes sense to you. For example, people don't usually talk in chapters of poetry like that — but they do on the stage. Relevant to this wiki, it might account for references to ancient mythological figures and pagan creation mythology, all made in elevated poetical language. Reading it as drama sometimes explains apparent gaps in the text too, if characters are interrupting and speaking across each other!
