25 And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan.
This verse, taken to mean that the continents of the earth separated during the course of a single human lifetime and thus were literally divided by oceans, is the basis of the idea of Catastrophic Plate Tectonics taught by the Institute for Creation Research. On the other hand it is one of Creation Ministries International's Qms:Arguments even professional creationists don't use#19.
This idea has been attractive to some Christadelphians, for example bro John Morris writing in 1989:
a ... recent (possibly cataclysmic) separation of the continents would very satisfyingly explain the dispersion of land-based animals from continent to continent ...
