39 And Eleazar the priest took the brasen censers, wherewith they that were burnt had offered; and they were made broad plates for a covering of the altar
39 So Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers, which those who were burned had offered, and they were hammered out as a covering for the altar
(RSV has this same wording.)
The word translated "made broad plates" or "hammered out" is רָקַע raqa: to beat, stamp, beat out, spread out related to רָקִיעַ raqia: extended surface, (solid) expanse (as if beaten out; compare Job 37:18) — Brown, Driver, Briggs
