BibleOld TestamentJeremiah

RSV

9 The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately corrupt;
who can understand it?

10 "I the LORD search the mind
and try the heart,
to give to every man according to his ways,
according to the fruit of his doings."

KJV

9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

10 I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

Why would one translation have "mind" and "heart" and the other have "heart" and "reins" (i.e. kidneys)? See The Heart for links to discussion.
