Daily Readings, 12th July

← back to the Daily Readings chart

 * In the Matthew reading the Lord Jesus combines two references to the Hebrew Bible: Psalm 78:2 and Proverbs 8:22-31. His reference to "things kept secret from the foundation of the world" (KJV) in Proverbs 8 — also translated from, or since, the creation of the world — is echoed elsewhere in the New Testament: see references at Before the foundation of the world. In view of these passages, is it possible to think of Jesus Christ as merely (!) the solution to a problem caused by our ancestors after the creation of the world? or was he always more than that?
