BibleNew TestamentJohn
KJV

31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. 32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. 33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.

John 12:32, 12:40 and John 12:45-46 are cited here as being relevant to the claim made here and here that to say that certain verses are non-literal "is to say Jesus and apostles were lying". Here, however, this claim is not accurate. Jesus first makes a horribly literal allusion to one aspect of crucifixion, but then when he speaks of "drawing all men to" himself it is clearly not literal, and clearly not lying either.

Note the word signifying, which, contrary to a literal reading, actually means non-literal communication!
